Email Integrations
If you use a tool like Mailchimp or ConvertKit to send your weekly email, Midweek can include the right merge variables (e.g., *|FNAME|*, {{ subscriber.first_name }}) so the email is personalized to each recipient.
Where to find it
In the sidebar, click Church Profile. Scroll to the Email Tool section.
Supported email tools
Pick the one you use:
- Mailchimp — uses
*|FNAME|*style merge tags - ConvertKit — uses
{{ subscriber.first_name }}style - Constant Contact — uses
[Contact First Name]style - Mailer Lite — uses
{$name}style - Generic — no merge variables (plain "Hi friend," type greeting)
What it does
When you generate a weekly email, the AI inserts a personalized greeting using your tool's exact merge syntax — for example:
Hi
*|FNAME|*,Hope you had a great week...
When your subscriber receives the email through Mailchimp, that variable is replaced with their actual first name.
How to set it up
- Pick your tool from the dropdown
- Save — that's it for Midweek's side
- Make sure your subscriber list in your email tool has a "first name" field populated for most subscribers (otherwise the greeting falls back to a generic name)
What if I don't use any of these?
Pick Generic. Your emails will use a friendly default greeting like "Hi friend," with no merge variables.
Tips
- Don't manually edit the merge variables. They look weird in the editor (
*|FNAME|*looks like garbage) but they're correct — your email tool replaces them on send. - Test with a sample send first if you're new to merge variables. Some email tools require list field setup before they'll resolve.
