SMS Blast
The SMS Blast is a short, under-160-character text message version of this week's most important info — usually sermon title, service time, and a brief invitation. Designed for sending through your church's SMS tool (Clearstream, Text-Em-All, etc.).
How to access
After generating a week, find the SMS Blast channel panel.
Why 160 characters
Standard SMS messages are 160 characters. Going over splits your message into multiple segments, which:
- Costs more (most SMS tools charge per segment)
- Looks broken on some older phones
- Hurts deliverability
Midweek enforces this limit — you'll see a live character count below the editor that turns red if you go over.
How to send
Midweek doesn't send SMS directly — you'll send through your existing SMS tool:
- Click Copy to Clipboard
- Open your SMS tool (Clearstream, Text-Em-All, EZ Texting, etc.)
- Paste, choose your recipient list, and send
What works in 160 characters
The AI optimizes for clarity:
- Sermon title or main event name
- Service time
- A short hook ("Hope to see you Sunday!")
- No links (most SMS tools track clicks separately, and links eat your character budget)
Tips
- Send Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Texts are urgent — the day-of reminder is when SMS shines.
- Don't text every week unless your congregation expects it. Save SMS for high-priority weeks (special services, schedule changes, weather closures).
- Always include a STOP option if your SMS tool requires it for compliance — Midweek's output doesn't include this since rules vary by provider.
