Onboarding
The first time you log into Midweek, a 3-step setup wizard walks you through the basics about your church. This article covers what each step asks for and why.
Step 1: Basic info
- Church name — What appears at the top of every email and bulletin
- Address — Used on bulletins and your public Link Page
- Phone & website — Optional contact info
- Service times — Used in upcoming-events copy and shown on your Link Page
Step 2: Tone & context
- Denomination — Helps the AI use familiar language (sacraments vs. ordinances, "Father" vs. "Brother", etc.)
- Church size — Tone naturally adjusts between a 50-person plant and a 5,000-member multi-site
- Tone description — Describe how you want communications to sound, in your own words. Examples:
- "Warm and casual, like talking over coffee"
- "Reverent and traditional, formal language"
- "Family-focused, encouraging, never preachy"
This is the most important field in onboarding. Vague descriptions produce vague writing.
Step 3: Social & ministries
- Social media URLs — Used to add follow-us links in generated content
- Recurring ministries — Small groups, kids, worship, men's/women's groups, etc. Listing these here means you don't have to reintroduce them every week.
Skipping ahead
If you want to explore the app first, click Skip to Dashboard at the bottom. You can complete or change any of these settings later under Church Profile.
Tips
- Be specific in your tone description. "Warm but not cheesy, occasionally humorous, always pastoral" is far more useful than "friendly."
- It's okay to leave fields blank. Anything you skip will just be omitted from generated content.
